In Mafia Wars, the spam is overwhelming. Most of it is generated because players chose to do so. The majority of spam is strategic and initiated by the user. In July of last year, Zynga decided to take Facebook up on their offer and started posting spam on our behalf [1]. We see these types of posts when someone accepts a gift, sends a gift, ices somebody, declares a war, joins a mafia members crew, and more. A new addition was added to the line up and we are now exposed to the fact that "so and so" crafted items from the Crafter’s Choice Event. Who really cares? Zynga gives us the ability to post about this monumental accomplishment so why does it need to be reiterated [1]? It’s just one more item to scroll through. You can be proactive and stop your own spam from appearing in other players news feeds [1]. Until every player does this, we will continue to see irrelevant and redundant information in the news feeds.
