How To Beat The Raven Without Purchasing Ammo

Share:

After 2 rounds of The Raven on several accounts, I believe I understand how the ammo drops work. Testing this theory (which was formulated with lots of help from other players), I was able to beat The Raven without having to purchase any ammo items. The best strategy for this Boss Fight is outlined below. The key to this strategy is to hold off on icing and take advantage of the time frame between when you pick up The Ravens trail and when the timer for the fight is activated. The drop rules for ammo items behave differently during these two phases.

Before Trigger
Ammo Type Job, Rob, Fight
Number of Items 50 each
Time Limit Unlimited
Banner Description "Watch Out For Him In Fights"
Banner Button "Go To Fights"
ammo1
After Trigger
Ammo Type Job, Rob, Fight, Ice
Number of Items 50 Combined
Time Limit 8 hours
Banner Description"Kill Him Now!"
Banner Button "Fight him"
ammo2
Now that you see the difference in ammo drop behavior, you can utilize it to your advantage. The most important rule of this strategy is to ensure you don’t trigger The Raven until you are maxed on Job and Rob ammo items. If you want to farm fight ammo as well, you need to make sure you don’t ice anybody. Find your favorite health hog and go to town. Once the banner appears on your Home Page, immediately stop icing people and farm 50 of each ammo item. You can hold off on the fight ammo because you will get it once you are ready to trigger The Raven. I used over 60,000 stamina robbing to get as many Rains of Pain as I could hold. I did the same for jobs and then I started icing.
ammo3
Once I started icing, I maxed out on Face Choppers and found once The Raven was triggered that Armagrendades also dropped at a much better rate. This is due to the fact that there is a cap of how many ammo items can drop during the 8 hour timer. Because I farmed enough Rains of Pain and Nunchuck Flurrys during the trail phase, these did not apply to the limit of what we believe to 50 not enough testing to verify as fact).
ammo4
Once The Raven is triggered, you have 8 hours to take his 60,000 health down to 0. If you have 50 each Rains of Pain and Face Choppers, you can make 25 attacks using the yellow combo. Because this was the second appearance of The Raven for me, I wanted to verify that your Red Combo stays the same and it does. For more information on how to figure out what your Red Combo is, go here.

1st Raven
redcomboformyaccount2[1]
2nd Raven
redcomboformyaccount3[2]
After testing the 1 red combo shown above, I then attacked The Raven using only the Yellow Combo. When I used up all of my Rains of Pain, The Raven had 4,105 health left.
yellowcombo22
I compared my ammo before and after I got to the point above. I was running the Assassin-a-Nator at the same time as I was attacking The Raven so I picked up some extra Face Choppers and Armagrenades.

Before/After
ammo6
I went back to robbing to try to score some more Rains of Pain but none would drop. The same was true of all the other items. Once the 8 hour timer is activated, you can only pick up 50 items. I had plenty of Nunchuck Flurries so I just used those until I defeated The Raven.
ammo7
ammo8
To ensure you that you realize The Ravens trail has been picked up and you should stop icing, Team Spockholm is updated the Assassin-a-Nator. The Raven was also added to the Desktop Notification options. The strategy above will not work if you keep icing and trigger The Raven before you farmed enough ammo items. If you do miss this valuable window, you can always let the timer run out and wait 3 more days to try again.
ammo9
Now that you can take down The Raven with ease, he will be a welcomed site. My only complaint is the fact that this Xtreme Assassins Jacket is so plain looking and the stats are only attack heavy.
ammo10
It would be much better if it looked something like this. With the super cool "Xtreme" adjective added to the Assassin's Jacket, I expected something a little more exciting!

  1. pretty good description. Pretty much did this strategy when he showed up. 60K energy and 60K stam to get 50 each of the rains and chucks. After that I did fights to get rippers. Got 10 grenades to boot, and killing raven was very easy. I would skip the red combo entirely because you can waste consumes finding the right one. Just do some green combos until you run out of greandes, then yellow combos and whatever you have left should be enough to finish without doing combos. I like the jacket they have better than yours BTW.

  6. dont know about most people but drop rates on my end still far and few and never ever seen an armagranade except for the two that come with raven showing up.......getting 50 of anything is so weary and i have been playing this game pretty much everyday before cuba was ever thought of in this game.

    1. The reason you aren't seeing any Armagrenades drop is because you are hitting the cap before any have a chance to drop. You won't get 50 items right away but if can hold off icing people, it doesn't take long to get 50 job items, it took me about 2 hours to get the 50 rob items. Face Choppers drop at a decent rate so you could fight manually to get them but ensure you don't ice anybody. Once you have your ammo, go ahead and ice people to trigger the fight. The key to all of this is NOT to activate the 8 hour timer. If you do, all drops will stop once you get 50 items total. Farming before the timer activates allows you to get 50 of each. You just have to be patient. I verified it on my alternate accounts and they don't have much skills so it can be done with minimal stamina. It will just take longer. It all depends on how badly you want the achievements.

    2. "Farming before the timer activates allows you to get 50 of each." find this funny cause that is what im talking about....three days and only got 12 rain of pain.......so no hope in yellow combo i have over 7k energy and over 6k stamina and i find every way possible besides spending money to find resources to loot the items......and since when is zynga even to everyone?? haha

  7. I seem to have some conflicting data. I saw the Raven event pop up for the second time on my main account. At which time items were dropping in fights, robbing and jobs. I went to check the amount I had by triggering the fight and timer. I then used 4 of the 8 hours to net 8 of the grenades and 50 of each other item. i had the same results. I do not think items stop dropping after the trigger? Could have been a freak thing on my account I will pay attention again in 3 days for round 3.

  8. Too much work... how about I just pay 100 rp's to never see the raven again.

  9. no you have luck, for me red combo was 1st time ARM RoP NF NF, and 2nd time was: NF RoP ARM NF.

  10. Where do you rob to get such a good rate on Rains of Pain? I burned 10K stamina now on robbing in NY, got 0 of them (i don't even close o 50).

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I only rob in New York because of the much better stam ratio.Did you double check to see if the fight was triggered yet? I did this run before The Raven showed up. If you do it after then you can only get 50 items combined. I also used 62K stamina to get that many. Took a while. Players with low stamina pools that can't NOT fight for a long time should try to batch their loot between 2 or 3 appearances of the raven.

    2. this raven thing has got me a little puzzled. are you saying that RofP's drop when there is no sign of the raven? i have 13 TOTAL items and not 1 of the consumables is dropping and there is no raven in sight. what does it mean to "pick up his trail" vs "activating timer". I have been avoiding ices so as not to trigger it and farm consumables, but there are none dropping. Thanks for all the work Jen!

  11. the counter on my account says 3 hours to defeat him , wtf?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. This is because he was triggered 5 hours ago. In order for this strategy to work, you have to stop fighting as soon as the notification banner appears in your account. If you keep fighting, your ices will trigger the appearance and the ammo drops change. That's why you should use desktop notifications so you can turn off your fight script. Once the banner appears you have all the time in the world to farm ammo (50 each of the 1st 3), once you get so many ices and the raven is triggered you only have 8 hours to get 50 items combined. Once you hit the cap, all items will stop dropping.

  12. Not understanding this wording at all, the way you write is hard to follow and mindless. Find what Health Hog? What the heck are you talking about? Farming items? What? Where do I see any way in what you said to farm anything? Why don't you do this, clarify in plain English what we are to do, so we understand your idea, then submit it to someone who has some iota of sense and have them write your blog for you. You obviously have no clue.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If you don't understand the basic terminology then this blog is too advanced for you. A health hog is someone who can't be iced. If you could understand the strategy you would see that ices trigger the Raven so they are to be avoided if you want the maximum number of loot items. You get Face Choppers for fighting but you don't want ices. Farm means to job, rob or fight for loot. My English is fine, it's your lack of understanding the basics of the game. I don't have time to spell out every little thing. If you have trouble, ask someone in your family to help you. If you don't like my writing style, once again, this isn't the blog for you. Find a different one. If you can't figure it out then you will just have to wait for him to appear 4 or 5 times to get enough ammo. Those who understand the game can do it every time he appears. You seem to be the one with no clue.I do this for free and I'm not going to cater to those who don't even understand the simple concepts. You are the one who has no clue. If you weren't so rude about complaining about the free service I provide, I might try to explain it in 5th grade english for you.

    3. The reason I guess people do not learn how best to play or get new strategies is because of people like you I guess, snotty, unwilling to help, explain or take the time to teach. It isn't because i do not full understand, I do for the most part, the way in which you phrase it, maybe that's what I didn't get. You have to remember there are beginner players who read your blog, and frankly you come off snotty as crap, and they will learn only one thing from you. To find someone else to ask.

      Delete
    4. I'm only snotty to people who are rude to me. Asking me to please explain something differently is a lot different than saying "Why don't you do this, clarify in plain English what we are to do, so we understand your idea, then submit it to someone who has some iota of sense and have them write your blog for you. You obviously have no clue."...so yes my snottiness was intended in this case. I don't have time to help people individually but I do try to do that. If everyone would use our fan page, more would benefit from it. Unfortunately people don't do that and use my inbox and email as a support site and I can't keep up with it. Players should be able to ask other players who understand the game better. I don't there are too many beginning players and if they want to succeed in this game, they need a mafia and that's where they can get more help. Our fan page is the perfect place to ask for more assistance and why it's there.

  13. are you able to loot any consumables from the time the RAVEN goes away till he starts lurking?? or only when he starts lurking that you are able to get items??...........he has been gone for about 24 hrs now and i got nothing, none of the three items as the forth i believe is only available when he is around.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Only when he is lurking, Once the banner disappears from the Home Page after the 8 hour timer expires, you can't loot anything and need to wait for him to come back. The best time to farm is in the lurking phase. Once he is triggered you can only get 50 items. You can get 150 when he is lurking.

  14. this is nice strategy but zynga must have nerfed the ammo drops.. I got 27 rain of pains for 33 K stamina.. after that I spent another 30 K ,, the loot drop just stopped for rain of pain.. i tried all cities at least 3-4 K but to no avail.. I guess I will start getting once zynga time is reset.. so there could be limit on how much you get in a day per ammo drop.. I was lucky with nanchak flurry .. I use lockpick bonus in all cities and got them double ..

    1. Rob or do jobs to get the 50 then fight and you shoul dget more armagrenades. At least this is how it worked when I had the Raven the second time. I got him a third time today and it seemed that more dropped during the trigger phase. I wasn't able to farm before because I had a fight script running but I stopped fighting to get the 50 robbing boosts. Hopefully they changed it so loot doesn't stop dropping during the trigger phase until you max. I won't be able to test it again for 3 more days.

    2. My own experience to share, might not work for everyone. RP from rob is harder to get, I go to Brazil, click Fighting, the Robbing, then Rob All (Rob Squad). Normally I get one RP every 2,3 rob boards, rarely more than 6. After 3 boards with no RP, or when I get a RP, I repeat the whole thing over. After I get 50 of each, I go fight him down to almost dead, then I go farm again as much as I can, then kill him.

      Delete
  16. How long does the raven remain lurking? I am almost at 50 of each of the 1st 3 items and need more armagrenades. I know as long as I don't ice anyone I will get drops, but just wondering how long the Raven will lurk so that I can farm? Then after I have the 50 of the easy loot, I will start icing and then the armagrenades will drop til I get 50? Thanks for these tips :)

  17. Has anyone tried to figure out if there is a method to figuring out which of the RED combos works for which accounts? I'd almost bet that the server your account is housed on may be a factor. I haven't been able to sort my RED combo out yet and can't beat the Raven without it. I have tried all six of the RED combos I've seen posted and none of them works for me.

  18. what about 3. time do u have the same red combo?

  19. Thank you for taking the time to write this up! I really appreciate it. I've maxed on all items as per above and now I'm icing and waiting for Raven to be activated. The drop rate on Rain of Pain is pretty dismal. Only about 3 for every 4500 stamina.

  23. Its funny because you say to avoid icing to prevent he raven from showing up but I cant get the stupid thing to go into attack mode. I dont think it matter what city you ice people in but does it matter if you are in the rival screen or the regular fight screen? I say that because I saw a Raven banner that said attack to find the Raven in the Fight screen above the list of opponents to fight and it wasnt in the Rivals screen. Any advice on how many ices it takes for the Raven to be attackable?

  25. I had the Raven show up while I was farming London cash.
I had maybe a total of 6 ices then I got the popup saying the Raven was available to fight.

I don't think ices have anything to do with him activating but the amount of fights.

    1. According to their FAQ, it's all about the ices. From experience it's very random. Sometimes it takes just a few other others it takes hundreds. I've had a good combination of both.

  30. here is my bit for strategy to beat the Raven every time it appears without worrying about before or after trigger.. I skipped the fight with raven once to farm enough ammos. Next time raven appeared I just brought down health to bare 1000 but did not kill him.. I farmed ammos for upto last hour.. then I killed him.. I have successfully implemented this strategy 3 times.. considering first time i killed him with farming before trigger its 4 raven kills now.. and I am ready with enough ammos for 5th appearence.. enough so that I do not have to worry about farming before trigger.. here are my fight and ammo stats. the loot drops are much better once fight starts.. i got 87 loot during fight..

before Raven Fight (before trigger) :-
    Rain of Pain = 50
    Face Chopper = 50
    Nunchuck Flurry = 35
    Armagrenade = 12

    Fight started, got 2 Armagrenade
used: red combo (AG/AG/FC/RP) 7, yello combo 12
    Raven Health 1235..
    Rain of Pain = 18
    Face Chopper = 18
    Nunchuck Flurry = 35
    Armagrenade = 0

    end of Farming
    Rain of Pain = 50 (+32)
    Face Chopper = 50 (+32)
    Nunchuck Flurry = 50 (+15)
    Armagrenade = 8 (+8)

  31. Just beaten the Raven for the sixth time and spent only 20 Rain of Pain in the battle so there are still 30 RoP left. I got plenty of RoP, along with bettong and gemsbok, by robbing in Chicago before the duel.

    ReplyDelete
  32. No matter how much fighting or robbing I do I cannot get the Rain of Pain or Armagrenade to drop with the Raven active. If I go do jobs the Nunchuck Flurry drops like crazy, so it not that I've hit the 50 ceiling. I just don't get it. Since I only had 10 of each when it triggered, and they're required for my combos, I'm going to have to buy ammo or let the Raven go.

  39. I have trouble defeating the Assassin. He always pops up after 50 or so ices in my part and this didn't even happen before when the banner was still posted. 3. I decided to take your tip of changing cities, and tested it on the same opponent who had a lot of health, in each city I brought his health down and got no face choppers until I fought in Chicago where I got 2-4 each time, thanks for the help.
