VIP Membership Plan Updates

UPDATE: These items are now offered to all players who renew their membership regardless if they cancelled or not. Now need to complain to anybody.

For those who didn’t cancel their VIP Memberships, Zynga gave them a gift of a Ice Trawler and +12 Skill Points.
VIP Early
If you cancelled your membership, you will get the option to renew. If you check the fine print in the popup above, it says that “Special items will be granted provided you have not cancelled your subscription for that month”. This is something new as we were told all along you could cancel at anytime and still enjoy all the benefits. At no point were we told otherwise. If this pisses you off as much as it does me, it may be time to contact the Better Business Bureau. I’m going to start by contact Zynga Billing. I paid for something I was told I could cancel at anytime and still get all the benefits so this is very unfair.

  2. I renewed to see what would happen. If I don't receive that pop-up before end of day tomorrow I'll be contacting the better business bureau to file a complaint as this is pure crap to decide to give extra things when you are supposed to enjoy "all the benefits" for that month. As this was during the month everyone should get it. Will call Zynga Billing tomorrow and if no results there the Better Business Bureau it is.

  3. The VIP plan looks like a drug to me. You get a rush when you spend. Cancel it, and pay the price.
    But overall i just cant shake the nagging suspicion, that VIP members are being played. I say that, and the following w/respect, no offense intended. But a fool and his/her money are soon parted.
    The big Z has a lot of smart people, whose job is to do just that.

    This was not long ago...best part... I canx this crap two days ago...just to test it out. So I am getting the loot as promised..just not the item and 12 rps...big deal...I got several thousand RPS to spare...and the item...oh well..no lose to me!

  8. Since the 12 skillpoints and ice trawler were items given at the end of the benefit period as a bonus for remaining a member I don't see any reason to be upset with it. As long as they do not take any of the 50 RP per week you received or the VIP loot drops and weekly VIP loot drop then they are not taking away what you were told you would get even if you canceled. For those who did not cancel their subscription and are set to have another deduction of money from their account it is nice to see they get an extra bonus for it. IMHO

    Of course for anyone who did cancel early don't feel too left out. I got the Trawler in inventory but did not receive the skillpoints. 12 SP are not worth the trouble to file a ticket... meh.

  14. Ummm... It is not false advertising. You DID enjoy all the benefits, which was clear in the description of "VIP Benefits". So when you payed, you knew what you were going to get, and GOT it. Now just because Zynga decided to reward a little something extra for those that stayed loyal... You complain??? Oh please.

  15. You people need to start reading English.

    First of all, from a legal perspective, this was not a present for the last month, where you enjoyed All the benefits, for that month, despite of the time of your cancellation.

    This is a present for continuing your membership into the new month; “Special items will be granted provided you have not cancelled your subscription for that month”.

    It is also not a present for the new month. It is a present for continuous service w/o interruption, so do not waste your time contacting anybody!!!

    Finally, it is only fair that people who did not cancel should receive extra benefits.

  16. Well i dont care about that .And yes I did cancel early. When they have better loot out on it I will join again,but not until then. I have thousands of vip loot . Maxed on it so for the past 1/2 month the vip loot I have been getting is no good for me.

  20. I joined....totally forgot about it, had more important things this week, so I am still a member and haven't cancelled....I haven't had the 12 skill points.
    Whether I find them useful or not is not the point, the skill points should be allocated.
    We will prob find a pop - up in a couple of days stating.... Skill point allocation, due 'a problem' the oversight has now been fixed.

    1. I wasn't trying to be smart, I needed to make a blog post on how to cancel and it was a good thing I did because they changed it since their original post. I already knew it would be updated in time and tried to rejoin as soon as I cancelled but it wouldn't let me. I can buy the skill points so not to concerned about that. I can't buy or get the loot so yes it's my right to whine about it. I did everything based on what I was told that I could cancel at anytime and not lose any benefit. They were stupid to offer the loot now because those who did join can wait another month to renew and if you think they will be on time every month you are delusional.

  22. jen ! it wasn´t about your decision - i know that you try everything to help us here and therefore your cancelation - it was about all the other smart people who wanted to spare money and going in and out the program to grab things when needed. i can understand both sides : the ones who stayed in and the others who wanted to be smarter then them .... and now ? discussions about 12 skill points ?!? it´s not worth it ...... and zynga is laughing at all of us in the end - that´s what disturbed me ;( .....keep on killing and doing your great job here !!

  23. Important update for VIP Membership Plan: Lots of players are unclear about when they will receive their 12 Skill Points. You will be awarded 12 skill points as part of your 2nd month’s membership benefits post receipt of your 2nd month’s subscription fee.

  24. I have been saying for a long time that people need to contact the BBB. I did it in Feb. and most people won't bother, but if no one ever stands up to Zynga, they get away with all of their BS.

    This is not all that different than the loyalty program. We were told by their chart there were benefits to being a platinum player and then got nothing.False advertising is the norm with them.

  25. For those complaining about the 12 skill points, you weren't supposed to get it yet. It's next months bonus (instead of the Ice Trawler) for keeping your acct active.

    Q: I am a VIP member and received the below pop-up. However, I did not receive 12 Skill Points yet. Why?

    A: Please note that 12 Skill Points will be rewarded to you next month along with automatic / manual renewal of VIP Membership.

    If you do not renew the VIP membership OR your VIP membership is already expired, you will not be eligible for the Skill Points Reward.

    If you renew before the time runs out you WILL get the rewards.

    It says here that "Q: I signed up for VIP membership but have cancelled it already. Do I need to renew the VIP membership to be eligible for the rewards?

    A: All the VIP members will receive the additional 12 Skill Points when their second month for VIP subscription begins."

    Thanx again Jen for all the work you do, so many people appreciate it. To anonymous - some people have to work hard for their money and not all can just afford to subscribe willy nilly to everything Zynga puts out there. Its not trying to be smarter, its just what we can afford.

If Zynga stated that those that cancelled can still receive all the benefits, and then a benefit was added targeted at those that specifically did not cancel and not provided to those that did not cancel, then Zynga is in contractual violation. The service provided has differed from the service that was promised at the time of the agreement. Money has changed hands. Zynga is now legally obligated to provided the service that was promised.

  29. I would say that there is no cheating from Zynga at this front. They announced something and it was followed by them. Now, on the continuous business point of view, they have decided to give little extra like a bonus to people who stayed paying them. That's acceptable in any legal and business world. It's like giving a freebie for customers/players who support them continuously. I dont think that's unfair as Zynga did respect the players who stayed with the paid play. Since, you thought you were one among or the only smart player and Zynga did not give you this, it cannot be unfair that they left you out. Think straight, you are doing a wonderful favor to all your followers. But, this does not fit right. No offense, just a thought.

    1. I never told anyone to cancel, I told them how to cancel which was the only reason I did do I could show them how to do it. I said all along it would only be worth it to cancel if the loot wasn't updated. It was. Good thing about me crying is that Zynga changed it and now you get the loot item and skill point when you renew regardless if you cancelled or not. I got mine :)

  31. You know the bottom line is Zynga can remove the bonus loot at anytime they so wish if you drop your subscription. When this was released in the first place that was their thought process but somewhere in the middle didnt get all the facts straight. I didnt see you all complaining about all the great loot that dropped from wrong drop rates being applied at first.

    Ooops, too late.

    The BBB did not laugh at me. They took my complaint seriously and quickly. I am now working with Zynga but it appears that this bonus was a renewal bonus (although not clear at the time). So if that is what they respond with, I am fine with that. I don't complain unless someone fails to honor their promises.

    Got two iterations of VIP Loot, so I am not renewing. It's not a bad deal, but neither is it a great deal.
