How To Delete Posts From Timeline

Now that most of us have Timeline, we need to learn how to use the “feature”. Many don’t like junk on their walls and Mafia Wars requires we add a lot of it. In order for your Mafia Wars posts to appear on your Timeline, you need to go to your Activity Log and add the Mafia Wars Application. For instructions on how to do that, go here. To get your posts to appear on your wall, you must write something on the post. A very common question we get on the fan page is how to remove posts from your wall. I usually remove my Property Part requests once they expire.
If you hover your mouse in the upper right corner, you will get the option to “Edit or Remove”.
This is somewhat deceiving because there is no option to delete the post. You can only “Hide from Timeline”. This is good enough for me but those with OCD want these posts removed.
To totally remove a post and not just hide it, click on the time stamp link of the post.
You will now see a drop down arrow in the upper right corner.
When you click open the drop down arrow, you will get a delete option.
Click on “Delete” and a confirmation screen will appear. Just click the “Delete” button and the post will be removed. Don’t check the “Delete all app activity” box or your Mafia Wars posts will stop appearing on your Timeline.
When it comes to computers, there is always more than one way to skin a cat. As mentioned in the comments, you can go to your Activity Log and delete posts from there. This method is faster if you want to remove more than one post. From your Facebook Profile Page, click on "Activity Log".
Then open the drop down arrow in the upper right corner and click on "Mafia Wars" (or whatever else you want to remove).
All your Mafia Wars posts will be listed. Click on the little circle located to the far right of each post and a delete option will appear. You will get the same confirmation screen as shown above.

You can delete "Old" requests easily from your Activity Log. It is slightly quicker.

"Don’t check the “Delete all app activity” box or your Mafia Wars posts will stop appearing on your Timeline." I am one of those OCD people that you mention :) and I think I must have done this (although not intentionally) My posts are appearing on my wall (I think, if I'm quick enough to check) but are not hitting on my timeline (for about the last 36 hours) Is there a way to get them back? I have checked via http://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=applications, but there doesn't seem to be anything different there that I can correct.

dont use timeline and if forced dont use facebook

Two things I've found that might be useful.

First, the consolidated activity box, where auto-posts and posts you don't write something on will show up, seems to show up somewhere around the "average" date in your timeline. For example, if the box contains posts from April 1 to April 30, it will show up somewhere around the 15th. So the further into the month you get, the further down the timeline it gets. The solution is to remove the old posts. Hiding them seems to work just as well as deleting them, and is a whole lot faster.

Second, I've found a way to filter a person's wall to show JUST Mafia Wars posts. Hopefully someone can turn this into a bookmarklet. Just add "?sk=og_app_10979261223" to the end of the person's profile page URL. If the person still uses a FB ID instead of a nickname (i.e. the URL ends with profile.php?id=xxxxxxx) then use &sk=og_app_10979261223 instead.

Also, if you forget to type something when you make a post, or you want something that is auto-posted to appear outside of the consolidated activity box, go to your activity log or select "view individual stories" from the box, then highlight the stories you want to promote. You can then un-highlight them and they will remain as individual posts on your timeline.

I cant believe that people actually cant work it out for themselves. I mean im not computer literate but i sussed timeline out pretty easy with no help. Its not rocket science.

I thought I had sussed it out as well, but as I said earlier, I must have clicked 'Delete all app activity', and for the life of me, I can't figure how to get it back. None of the obvious places like privacy settings or app settings show me that it is blocked. The posts are going to my wall, but not showing at all on my timeline, unless posted by Bookmarklet.

I think "sussing" out the fact that you need to click on the time stamp is not very intuitive.

Thank you for explaining how to do it. Knowing that I can do it from the activity log is not very helpful to me, since you can't tell what TYPE of MW post it is, and I like to keep both an old level up and an old war post around for linking.

I have a 'Delete' option, in the 'pencil' tool, and I just got Timeline handed to me yesterday. The delete function was not there yesterday, but is today. Yesterday, the 'Hide from Timeline' feature was there, but today I see 'Delete', and clicking it causes a confirmation popup to appear, just as the 'regular' wall does/used to do. Click Delete in the confirmation box, and the post is gone!

I noticed this too today as well. Maybe someone pointed out to them that it was stupid.

I would still love suggestions on how to get my posts back on timeline, after my own clumsiness of clicking "delete all app activity" please?
