Updated Loot Reference Charts

Kanu from the Mafia Wars Gods!!! had to go back to work on his loot reference charts. Zynga decided to change the stats on some of the new Brazil loot (1) and six new Operations were introduced to the game (1). Here are the newly updated charts. The first question many might have for Zynga is "Where is the fighting loot?", none of the Fighting High End Loot or Fight Club loot made the cut for the Top 8 loot.

New Items In Red & Blue Mystery Bags

We were suppose to get Mystery Boosts Bags today but that hasn't happened yet. I did get several e-mails and inbox messages about new items in our current Mystery Bags. I did a run of both types and here are the items I found that I haven't recalled seeing in Mystery Bags.

Ironically, Dave aka [RAH™]PhishySloth, found a Sloth. The image he sent made me laugh.

Lets take a closer look. This probably isn't a complete list of new items. Zynga likes the self discovery factor so please comment if you found additional items. I can open up more gifts in an hour and will update if I find more.

Fight Module Buttons

One of the complaints about the the new Fight Module is the Heal button is too close to the the Power Attack button. It looks pretty but is not in an optimal position.

It's been requested many times that the Heal button be moved and today that request was granted. The only problem here is they moved the Attack and Power Attack buttons as well. Hopefully this is just a bug and not the intended location of the buttons.

Freedom Fighters Gifting Event

There is a new Gifting Event. Remember the ones we always used to complain about that started out with Prized Pigs? They're back! I can't say I missed them but it won't be that bad because we didn't have one last week. I hope Zynga continues with the trend of spacing out the different event types. This one is called Freedom Fighters.

If you miss the popup shown above look for the event on your Home Page Current Events Module.

The first gift called American Dream and is available on the Free Gift Page.

Unlike useless gifts from past Gifting Events the American Dream actually has a function. It's a boost and will add +150 to your defense score when you are attacked. You get 5 of them per gift.

You need to collect 4, 10, and 20 for each level of mastery.

Use the Link-a-Nator and the Free Gift Get-a-Nator by Team Spockholm to make this task easier.

If you are lazy you can buy these items for 3 Reward Points each. You won't find them in the Marketplace (at the time of this post) and will have to use the "Buy Rewards" link on the Home Page.

You can also collect gifts from your news feeds. Look for these popups while doing jobs.

When you mafia members click on your post, they will get a gift that will count towards mastery.

The loot mastery item is called a Star Shield and the stats improve with each level of mastery. These are the best stats I've seen from a Gifting Event item. The Gold level Star Shield has stats of 53/105!

Don't forget you can spam about it to all of your friends!

The next gift called the Flag Bearer will unlock in a little under 2 days from now and is a boost that will add +150 to your attack skill. The last gift called Fireworks will add +200 to your defense skill unlocks in a little under 4 days.

The mastery items for the next two gifts are the Parade Leader and the Firecracker.

Once all of the gifts are unlocked, and you master them all on the Gold level, you will get the Grand Prize loot item called the Freedom Eagle. If history repeats itself, we will get to master the event 3 times.

Death By Ice Counter Issues

Customer Support has addressed the Death By Ice counter issues that we have been experiencing. No need to freak out, it's just a display error and all of your ices are counting. Go here to check for updates.

Ice Counter Error: Death by Ice

During the recent release of the Death By Ice event it was discovered that the counter was not displaying the number of ices correctly. This was a display issue only, and all ices that players were winning were being counted for both the player and their Family. The display error has now been resolved.  In order to repair the issue it was necessary to restart the counter at zero.  Don't be alarmed though, because all of your ices are still recorded on your account, but the updated counter display will only show the ices that you have after the point in which it was updated.

The {ASS} Assassin-a-Nators FAQ

The {ASS} Assassin-a-Nators are a IN GAME Mafia Wars Family created so players in non fighting Families could participate in the Death By Ice Event. They are not a Family in the traditional sense and would not try to compete or claim to be better than the established Families of Mafia Wars. Our goal is to get as many ices as possible. As most should know, strength and ices have nothing to do with each other. It's quantity not quality!  Q: Who are the Assassin-a-Nators and why haven't I seen the {ASS} tag prior to the Death By Ice Event? A: The {ASS} Family was created for the Death By Ice Event. The rules of this event are simple. Ice as many players as possible. If Zynga didn't want to prevent the real established Families from making the leaderboard, they should have selected a different criteria for determining a winner. Established Families war with other Families and their ice totals for doing this would never be high enough to compete with Families that don't care who they ice. An ice is an ice. Q: What's with the name The Assassin-a-Nators? Don't you know there is a fighting script that shares this name and you aren't even allowed to type the word Assassin-a-Nator on the Zynga Forums! A: The Family Module is not governed by the same Rules of Conduct as the Zynga Forums. Q: I applied to be a member of the Assassin-a-Nators and wasn't selected. Why was that? A: The {ASS} Family had one day to come together. The announcement was made and a application form was created. Participants were selected based on their stamina pool and leveling abilities. We only had 100 slots and combined forces with the Mafia Wars Maniac Family. We apologize to anyone who wasn't selected and hope that Zynga will increase the Family limit of 100.  Q: Hey someone with an {ASS} tag insulted me and my Family in a public forum. Why is there a {ASS} War Page anyway? A: There are 100 members of The {ASS} Family and it has been explained that all banter should be kept on the private page. The public war page was an error in judgement and has been removed. We are NOT a traditional Family and for the remainder of the event will not act like one. This is a learning curve as many of us have no Family experience and wouldn't know the first thing about a real Family War. We are just participating in the Death By Ice Event which was created by Zynga. Q: The Assassin-a-Nators were #1 on the leaderboard but to my delight the ƒ๏ям๏ѕÂ 歡樂ƒůn團 Family took the lead. Are you all crying over this? I hope so because it's hilarious! A:  Our goal was to master the Death By Ice Event. While it's fun to aim for number one, we didn't  expect to stay there through the duration of the event. We work as a team to get as many ices as we can. Because of the rules of the event, there will be unknown or newly created Families on top. Rather than worry about what everyone else is doing, we are focusing on what we are doing.  Q: My Family has declared war on the Assassin-a-Nators. We are going to beat you all down and kick your {ASS}.  What are you going to do about it?  A: We understand that established Families are attacking us. This hasn't had a dramatic effect on our performance. The massive attacks by others are the equivalent to little ant bites. Annoying but overall not a threat. We are happy that we are helping some of these Families master the Death By Ice Event as they really aren't experienced with using the fightlist. The ƒ๏ям๏ѕÂ 歡樂ƒůn團 Family does thank all who have declared war on the Assassin-a-Nators as it made their job of claiming the number one spot a little bit easier. Q: What lessons can are there to be learned from the Death By Ice experience? A: Don't hate the playa, hate the game! We did not create the Death By Ice Event or determine the rules. If the {ASS} Family wasn't on the leaderboard, a different Family that isn't one of the haters would be. Strong and established fighting Families have no chance so please take your concerns to the Zynga Forums or Get Satisfaction. Stop being petty and hating on The Assassin-a-Nators!

Mafia Meetup Day: Las Vegas

Saturday was the Worldwide Mafia Wars Meetup Day. We had a small crew meetup at PT's Pub in Las Vegas. It was a lot of fun to meet other Mafia Wars players who live in the area. We had a few new players and it was fun to show them how to use bookmarklets. I was waiting to get more images as many took pictures. All I have right now are the ones that were on my phone so the resolution wasn't very good and there are way too many with me in them. Sorry about that. We will be having another Meetup on during the week of July 11th. Mike Nestor and Pistol Pete from Spockholm will be in town visiting. I will post more details we get things set up.

Leaving A Family Mid Ice

A common question that I get is "Will you still get to keep the Death By Ice Loot if you leave your Family". I had an energy account in the {ASS} Family and decided to leave so a real player could join and participate.

The answer to the burning question is Yes. Here is the Ruby level Ma taken from the inventory of the account above after leaving the {ASS} Family. You can see it's still active. The player who joined right after was able to collect a Ruby Level Ma as soon as he was accepted into the {ASS} Family. I will work on finding a Family with a vacant spot and a Ma to see if my energy account can join and collect a second loot item. I didn't have time to coordinate that tonight.
